Planning for short and long term recovery after a public health emergency or disaster is as important as the initial planning for a response. Emergency preparedness plans should incorporate recovery and such efforts should be implemented while response efforts are still underway. Part of those recovery efforts include supporting communities as they return to a new reality. This webinar will provide tips and resources on recovery plans from development to implementation.

Wendy Smith-Reeve

For over two decades, Wendy Smith-Reeve administered state and federal emergency management programs and services to local, county, state, Tribal and non-profit organizations, managing disaster response and recovery efforts, crisis management, public policy, and public speaking.

Ms. Smith-Reeve served as the Director for the Arizona Division of Emergency Management from June 2013 to March 2020. During her tenure, the agency saw unprecedented improvement in its performance and accountability standards. Ms. Smith-Reeve is also a former Deputy Director for the Arizona Department of Emergency & Military Affairs, where she was responsible for supporting the agency Director/Adjutant General in ensuring agency alignment with the Governor’s vision and priorities. Ms. Smith-Reeve’s full tenure with the agency spanned more than 23 years, and during that time she supported and/or managed state response and recovery efforts for more than 100 state disaster declarations, and 13 presidential disaster declarations.

The NTEMC is a long standing sub-committee of the Northwest Tribal Emergency Management Council bringing Tribes and Tribal emergency management organizations from around the Nation together to share information and best practices and to discuss public safety, public health and homeland security issues affecting those in Indian Country.
