Event Details

Join us for an interactive webinar as we describe transgender and gender diverse health experiences in Texas from a health equity perspective.

Texas is home to an estimated 325,450 transgender and gender diverse adults — the second largest number in the nation. Not only has COVID-19 exposed the deep and persistent racial and social inequities that exist among highly marginalized communities, but transgender adults of all ages may have underlying health conditions which elevate their risk for serious COVID‐19 illness. Transgender and gender diverse people are less likely to seek or be able to access healthcare and are at a higher risk for social isolation and suicide compared to the general population.

This webinar will inform a more inclusive and equitable response and recovery for transgender and gender diverse Texans. We will explore initial data from the “LGBTQ+ COVID-19 and You” survey to better understand the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on this community, as well as begin to identify opportunities to close gaps in response and recovery by working to bridge deep divides in the underlying conditions for health.
